Member Benefits

While this association is about how we can collectively contribute to improve care and protect patients, we do want to offer our members value added services as part of the group dedicating their lives to serving others.  This page is dedicated to outlining some of the tangible benefits that you may received as a member of the association.

A key aspect of the associations offering are continuing education opportunities including hosting our own research and learning symposium and BC Paramedics Gathering with leisure and learning based off the renowned Irish EMS Gathering.  BCPA members will gain Free entry to the one day research symposium and discounts on the BCPA conference.

Research Sponsorship & Conference Travel Support

Are you a budding paramedic researcher?  Wonder where to start?  Join the research committee, not only will you get guidance, support and supervision on research projects. You will be support in applying for research grants and varied opportunities. In addition, the BCPA will support and assist financially where possible when you achieve speaking and presentation engagements as a result of your BCPA research work.

University Library Access to Research Papers

Not all paramedics are active post-secondary level students. Many however, like to stay on top of the latest research.  While we want to share as much as we can on this site for your education, not every research paper can be accessed openly and for free. So, whether you want to reach for your personal learning and practice, or you want to conduct a literature review for original paramedic led research.  We are committed to members having graduate level access to a research library.  We want to be the most well informed paramedics in Canada and abroad.

Continuing Professional Development Credits

The BCPA is committed to producing at least 20 hours of pertinent and useful clinical education for our members every year.  This education will be available through our online learning portal.  http://edu.paramedicsbc.ca  and will be available for free (included in membership) to all current members of any classification.  These courses will be vetted in advance for learning hours applicable for EMALB submission.  Why spend money on other non-paramedic web learning resources when you can get evidence base material from your peers.

We will also be establishing a structure where content contributors get 2 to 4 times credit for content development and peer review along with special honorarium to produce the content for our colleagues.

In addition, our goal is to have the CPD committee review and recommend external courses to ensure that any additional financial and time investment you make taking an education program comes well recommended and pertinent to our current practice.
