Position Overview Co-reporting to the Headmaster and leadership team, the Special Education Coordinator works with and manages special education for the school. Responsibilities for this position may include:
- Supervision of Special Education teachers, paraprofessionals
- Oversight of state compliance within Special Education to ensure each student in the program is properly tended to
- Coaching special education teachers in alignment with Valor's mission and vision
- Develop, implement, and update IEPs (Individual Education Programs) for students
- Adapt lessons to particular student needs and assess their ongoing development Teach students individually or in small groups according to need for growth
- Clear communication with school leaders, teachers, and families about individual student's progress and ways to assist student growth
- Other roles and duties as assigned
- Maintaining updated certification(s) for the special education team and ensuring Valor's alignment with state standards
