Job Description

Ullico Inc. is actively recruiting a Senior Group Insurance Underwriter for our Group Underwriting Department located in our Silver Spring, MD office. The candidate will be responsible for the conservation, profitability, and production goals of larger, more complex cases within assigned geographical area. Analyzes claims experience to establish appropriate premium rates for renewals and existing business and new business proposals. Generates changes to existing policies and communicates those changes to clients. Reviews the work of lower level Underwriters and provides guidance as needed. Ensures policies are profitable to the company and are equitable to the clients.

Job Duties:

• Analyzes current business group's experience and prepares renewal quotes for current clients.
• Analyzes prospective group's experience and prepares proposal quotes for prospective clients.
• Collects, organizes and analyzes data; produces reports; and reviews contract policies and amendments prior to providing to customer.
• Provides ongoing support for new and existing business and serves as liaison with sales.
• Produces letters to communicate changes in policies and/or rates and to explain underwriting decisions.
• Reviews booklets, policies and/or amendments for accuracy and compliance.
• Reviews work of and assists Underwriting Assistants, Associate Underwriters and Underwriters as needed.
• Collaborates with and discusses rate action results with supervisor(s).
• Performs other similar and related duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: The successful candidate will have a Bachelor’s Degree and five to seven years of Group Underwriting experience, with particular emphasis on stop loss insurance. Effective written and oral communication skills are required. Proficiency in and demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Excel and email applications required. Demonstrated organizational analysis, data comparison, detail-oriented and follow-up skills required. Experience with Young Stop Loss system desired.

Salary Range: $100,000.00 - $125,000.00 ( depending on relevant experience, skills, and credentials). This position is eligible to participate in Ullico Inc.’s (“Ullico”) annual incentive compensation program. An incentive award is contingent upon Ullico meeting financial goals set by the Ullico Board of Directors and your individual performance. The elements of the program, including eligibility, the range of potential incentive compensation, and the factors that determine the payment, will be shared with you after you become employed.
