Primary Purpose

The ASL Interpreter (all levels) is responsible to provide ASL /English interpreting.

+ Possess the professional skills and knowledge required for the specific interpreting situation.

+ Adhere to standards of confidential communication.

+ Conduct themselves in a manner appropriate to the specific interpreting situation.

+ Maintain ethical business practices.

Ergonomic Requirements

Regular office hours are established between 8 am 5 pm during the workweek. A flexible work schedule, including nights and weekends, may be necessary due to the nature of the responsibilities.

All individuals are required to be able to perform essential functions without a significant risk of injury or to otherwise demonstrate or explain how they can perform the essential functions listed above.

Minimum Requirements

Level 1 Novice: Associate degree or equivalent

Level 2 Basic: Associate degree plus experience at post-secondary level

Preferred requirement: Bachelors degree in Interpreting

Level 3 Associate: Associate degree plus experience at post-secondary level

Preferred Requirement: Bachelors plus certification

Level 4 Intermediate: Bachelors plus experience at post-secondary level

Preferred Requirement: Bachelors plus certification plus experience at post-secondary level

Level 5 Advanced: certification from RID , NAD , BEI

Preferred Requirement: Bachelors plus certification plus experience at post-secondary level

Level 6 Master: certification from RID , NAD , BEI

Preferred Requirement: Bachelors plus certification plus experience at post-secondary level

Licensure: Obtain and maintain applicable state licensure requirements
